NGH! 03 - Movers and Shakers

After listening to like 10 mix albums and browsing countless indie websites, I finally chose 5 songs that set need to be heard. After listening to the first 30 seconds of these songs, you'll know what I mean when I saw these songs will get you moving.

The Fratellis - Flathead

These guys are from Scotland and have been around for quite awhile. Why these guys aren't signed by a major record lable is completely beyond me. Pretty much all their songs are as upbeat as the song I posted here. You can download this song by visiting their website (just right click on "flathead" and choose "save link as":

The Joys - Do I

These guys are from Canada and sold 12,000 records independently. The song I chose was originally done by the band under the name "Popjoys". Unfortunately I didn't find any links for free music on their site, but you can check out their site at:

Ted Leo & The Pharmacists - Me and Mia

Ted Leo and The Parmacists have been making great songs since 1998 and have 10 albums in total. I didn't find a link to free music on their site at:

The Herms - Record Machine

The Herms have so many good songs, it was tough deciding which to put here. I chose Flathead because there is no warmup, you'll get a full on great song right from the beginning. No free music, but check out their cool website at:

Locksley - She Does

The first thing you'll notice about this song, is that is sounds very similar to Jet. Their other songs have a very retro sound to them. Here's their website at:

NGH! 02 - More Songs That Rock

So I found a few really awesome songs that I just had to put up. The problem is trying to limit my selection to 5 songs. This week I wanted to put up a couple songs that have I've never heard on the radio, but I wouldn't be surprised if you start to hear them soon. If you have any suggestions for any great bands or songs, let me know. I'm always up for hearing some fresh sounds.

Honeycut - The Day I Turned to Glass

I just heard this song a few days ago and can't seem to stop playing it. It's a pretty epic song no doubt! I love how they have so many mixed sounds all put together so nicely. It looks like their site is under a bit of construction, but you can check it out so far at:

Taking Back Sunday - Liar

Air Traffic - Charlotte

Last but definitely not least, Low Mllions with Nikki Don't Stop. This is from their latest CD called Ex-Girlfriends. Alright seriously, make sure there is no one around you of the opposite sex. NGH! 01 - Songs That Rock

I'm listening to music all the time, the rarer the music, the better. So I decided to put together a list of some amazing songs that a lot of people may not have heard before. Some of the music in this list is finally receiving recognition and is being played by local radio stations, and I'm sure in time most of these songs will hit the mainstream.

The Thermals - Here's Your Future

This song is from the bands latest CD called "The Body, The Blood, The Machine". This song was an easy choice to put first. The lyrics and guitar riffs are incredible. Matt and Kim - Yea Yeah
